Early Development Instrument

During each AEDC cycle, teachers complete the Australian version of the Early Development Instrument (AvEDI) for each child in their class, which is collected using a secure data entry system.

The AvEDI is completed based on the teacher’s knowledge and observations of the children in their class. Children are not required to be present while teachers complete the AvEDI and schools participating in the AEDC are provided with funding for teacher relief time.
