Researchers

The AEDC provides researchers with robust data about children’s development and can be accessed in de-identified formats and through data linkage.
Children building in the classroom.

The AEDC is a population measure of young children’s holistic development across five domains at the time they start full-time school.

It provides robust and reliable data for researchers. De-identified AEDC data is available to researchers at the individual child level and has been used to enrich studies in the various areas, such as:

  • health
  • education
  • disability
  • child protection
  • epidemiology
  • sociology.

The AEDC promotes opportunities for researchers to access and use data to inform research, policy and planning around early childhood development in Australia.

The resources section has useful information for researchers about accessing and using AEDC data, including guidelines on handling and publishing information.
