Access by Application or Agreement

Data that is not publicly available through the AEDC website may be available by application or agreement. Integrated data can be requested from authorised data linkage units and integrating agencies, either directly or via application to the AEDC Data Management Agency.

The AEDC Data Guidelines set out the principles and protocols for management, access, use, and dissemination of AEDC data.

Fees and charges may apply.

Access by application

Bespoke AEDC data can be requested by application. Depending on the type of data required, applications can be made for: macrodata, microdata or microdata for data linkage.

Access under agreement

Government agencies, research institutes, universities and other organisations can request access to AEDC microdata by entering a data sharing agreement with the Australian Government, which outline the type of access and use of AEDC data. Organisations with an existing agreement may apply for an amendment if that agreement does not cover newly required data.

Data linkage

Access via PLIDA

The Person-Level Integrated Data Asset (PLIDA) is a secure data asset managed by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). PLIDA consists of various datasets including AEDC data, which the ABS are responsible for linking and providing authorised researchers access to for approved projects.
