Summary
In previous cycles, the most recent area-based SEIFA at the time of data collection was used and retrospectively applied to previous cycles. In 2024, this was revisited to align with the ABS’ recommendation on time-series data that indexes should be used to compare the relative socio-economic characteristics of areas at a point in time.
As a result of this change including boundary revision in every cycle, some Local Communities/Communities have one or more SEIFA scores in a cycle. These reference tables document outline SEIFA communities and local communities.
