Ashdale Cluster Attends the AEDC National Conference (WA)

Four Deputy Principals from WA outline their learnings from the AEDC National Conference in 2018.

Summary

Along with ten other WA school leaders and teachers, four Deputy Principals were selected to attend the AEDC National Conference to learn about what is having an impact on early years’ outcomes.

This school story outlines their key takeaways, for example:

  • One in seven children aged 4–17 meet the criteria for mental health disorder, with one in five in disadvantaged areas.

  • The family environment can impact on a child’s learning potential.

  • Negative learning and development impacts are strongest between 0-3 years.

  • Evidence based programs and policies are likely to have long term impacts on student wellbeing.
