Summary

There has been significant interest in the concept of identifying children or communities with ‘strengths’ in child development, and whether certain items from the AvEDI could be used for this purpose. As such, the aim of this project was to explore the feasibility of creating a Multiple Strength Indicator to supplement the current suite of deficit based indicators. The project also explores the feasibility and utility of using the Multiple Challenge Index, a Canadian indicator, to identify children facing significant developmental challenges in the Australian context.
