Summary
Woden is an established ACT region in Canberra’s inner south. When compared to the ACT average, Woden displayed a similar percentage of children developmentally vulnerable however there were significant increases between 2015 and 2018 in children developmentally vulnerable on the social competence and language and cognitive skill domains.
In response, Woden Community Service received a grant to implement the following programs, outlined in this community story.
- Point and Play programs
- Bush Play Connections in Molonglo Valley
- Circle of Security Parenting Program
- Multicultural Coffee Conversation Group.

Between 2015 and 2018, there were increases in vulnerability across all five domains, with significant increases in physical health and wellbeing, and social competence. This highlights a need for further early childhood development support.
