Summary

The Jondaryan community is made up of the rural town of Oakey and its south-east and western surrounding areas. The community has a population of 7,585 people.

AEDC data showed 44.7% of children were developmentally vulnerable on one or more domains, however this decreased to 28.3% over almost a decade. This is because of various projects and programs implemented over the years in early education, parenting and health services.

The coastal community of Deception Bay is in the Moreton Bay region, approximately 32 kilometres north of Brisbane. AEDC data shows that the level of developmental vulnerability has decreased significantly across all cycles.

Communities Leading Positive Change (QLD)

Queensland communities, Rocklea-Acacia Ridge, Deception Bay and Jondaryan have experienced a significant shift in AEDC data between 2009 and 2018. Throughout this time, all three communities have faced complex community factors and contextual challenges.
