Summary
Newport Public School is in the Pittwater area of Sydney, about 30 kilometres from the CBD.
Teachers examined the school’s results and were concerned at the number of children shown to be developmentally vulnerable in social competence and emotional maturity.
As a result, the school discovered KidsMatter, a mental health and wellbeing framework. They received funding from Families NSW, to introduce KidsMatter resources as well as the the You Can Do It program to strengthen the social and emotional skills of children starting school.
